Before You List Your Home

As we all know by now, you can't sell most homes without doing something to make them more appealing than the competition.  Here are some ideas on how to make your home the best it can be (without spending a ton of money)...

1. Make the front entrance inviting (power wash the front door and walkway and plant some flowers)

2. Clear away clutter (this means- on shelves, counter tops AND in closets)

3. Freshen the appearance of the rooms (add some colorful pillows or new wall art)

4. Clean the house thoroughly (dust and scrub EVERYWHERE)

5. Arrange furniture for spaciousness (put some furniture in storage if there is just too much)

6. Do all you can do to reduce odors (change filters, wash walls, use plug-ins)

7. Perform all minor repairs (don't let potential buyers see the little problems!)

8. Replace outdated light fixtures (this will update the look of your house quickly)

9. Clean the carpeting

10. Don't forget the garage (keep it looking orderly)

These are the the top 10 things you can do to make your home a turn-key home for the next owner.  Buyers will appreciate your efforts and your home will have a much better chance of selling.

Let me know your thoughts on these ideas.  If you have any others- we'd love to hear them.

The housing market "fix"

You have all heard about how the government has had to step in to help with our current real estate market difficulties.  Do you think it is enough?  Too much?  Not the government's problem to solve?  What is your take on what's happening with owners losing their homes?  We now know that the FHA loan limit has been increased, allowing more people to qualify for a loan which requires very little down payment (if any!).  What else is the Senate looking into?  Well, the Senate has started discussion on a $15 billion dollar package to assist those that have been hurt by the current state of the market.  To learn more about the package click on the underlined statement.  Love to hear what your thoughts are.
